Roja Selvamani (Latha Reddy) was born on 17th November 1974 to Kumaraswamy Reddy in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Roja is a South Indian actress and politician. She currently aligns with the YSR Congress party. She learnt Kuchipudi, a dance form, for a few years. Later, the family moved to Hyderabad. She did her Master's Degree in Political Science from Nagarjuna University

Roja entered the cinema industry with Telugu films. Her first movie was Prema Thapassu with acting legend Rajendra Prasad where the complete movie was shot in Tirupati. She was introduced to the Tamil film industry by director R.K. Selvamani with Chembaruthi along with actor Prashanth.

Roja joined Telugu Desam and was the woman wing president of Telugu Mahila Party. During the 2009 state elections, she was involved in confrontations and political antics with her rival opposition party leaders, which ultimately led to her defeat for the second consecutive time in the AP state Assembly elections. In August 2009, she quit TDP and joined Congress Party. She quit Congress party and is now with Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy's political party.

Roja is married to popular director R. K. Selvamani, who made her first Tamil movie. The couple has one daughter and one son.

The film is about Hindu spiritual guru Jagadguru Adi Sankaracharya. Kaushik Babu is playing the lead role with Ramachandra, well-known as Indian Idol is making his debut as actor. The film has other star-cast including Jayaprakash Reddy, Naga Babu, Sai Kumar, Suman, Prakash Raj, Anand, Jayaprada, Roja, Rohini, Tulasi, etc. Top heroes Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu, Srihari and Upendra are playing cameos in the film. Nara Jayasri Devi producing this movie on Global Peace Creators banner. Naga Srivatsa composed the music and P K H Das handles the camera. Latest attempt by JK Bharavi who is the main person behind Raghavendra Rao/ Nagarjuna devotional movies creates lots of doubts as the earlier movies lacks spiritual depth. He is known in the industry that possesses the capability for making such movies. But this movie will be extremely challenged for him as it is not easy as Shankara to write in simple slokas with immense meaning. The adding of commercial elements as seen in posters, trailers doesn’t show anywhere close to the initially made movie in Sanskrit with Sarvadaman Banerjee as Shankara was immense drama got many national awards, was critically acclaimed.This film is yet to release due to some production works are still going on. Previously it is expected to be released on April 08, 2013 and later on it is changed for many months. Let’s wait for the release.

Roja Selvamani mononymously known as Roja is a veteran south Indian actress and politician. Roja was born to Kumaraswamy Reddy, a native of Chittor district. She learnt Kuchipudi, a dance form, for a few years.

She entered the cinema industry from Telugu films. She was first introduced in the Tamil film by director R.K. Selvamani in his film Chembaruthi paired with actor Prashanth. The movie was a hit and paved the way for her in the Tamil cinema industry. She became popular with her songs such as Veloor Maman in the film Makkal Aatchi with Mammootty and Mastana Mastana in Rasaiyya with Prabhu Deva. She became popular acting in films with actors such as Rajnikanth in Veera, and Arjun Sarja in Ayudha Poojai. Roja`s career breakthrough was in the film Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen, directed by Vikraman. Roja`s 100th movie was Pottu Amman. Roja appeared in supporting roles in Arasu (2001) and in Parijaatham (2006).

She is married to the director R.K. Selvamani, the director of her first movie, and has moved into Andhra politics.

Her hobbies are costume designing and hairstyling. Roja has a penchant for hairdressing and whenever she is free in film-shoots, she is seen hairdressing her co-heroines like Meena, Devayani, Kushboo, Ranjitha, Mumtaz to name a few. According to Ramya Krishnan, her friend and co-star, Roja is one of the few artists who can do their own make-up. Actress Mumtaz in an interview has praised Roja`s willingness and egoless attitude when Roja did her hair and make-up during a Singapore Film show in 2003. Roja herself told in a interview that Actress Meena is her Kid-sister , they are best friends for a long time. She is currently actively involved in AP politics.
