Jyothika Saravanan was born to Chander Sadanah, a film producer, and Seema Sadanah, on 18 October. 1978 in Mumbai, India. She was born into a Punjabi family. She completed her schooling in Learners Academy, Bandra, Mumbai. She has a half-sister, Nagma (born Nandita), who is also an actress, from her mothers previous marriage.
She married actor Surya Sivakumar on 11 September 2006, with whom she had acted in six films with. The couple has a daughter named Diya who was born on August 10 2007. She delivered a baby boy on June 07, 2010.Surya has named his son as Adithya.
Her first movie was the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna with her co-star Akshay Khanna , directed by Priyadarshan. She proceeded to act in Kollywood films, where she debuted in a guest appearance in Vaali.
Her first Tamil movie was an cameo appearance in Vaali opposite Ajith Kumar called Sona. As a lead artist Poovellam Kettuppar she starred with Surya Sivakumar. She starred in Mugavari, Kushi for which she won the Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award, Thenali and Dumm Dumm Dumm, Poovellam Un Vasam. She dated well acclaimed Tamil actor Surya for over 4 years and married him on 11 September 2006. After the wedding, she announced her decision to stop acting. Soon she gave birth to a baby girl on August 10, 2007 and dnamed her Diya and as of now she is not doing any films and devotes her entire time taking care of her daughter.
Once she was a brand ambassador for the famous wardrobe hub in Chennai, and she was successful in promoting the product.
